Alumni Spotlight

My name is Jason Maymon and I am one of the scholarship awardees for the Absolute remote internship program. I'm a student at Florida State University and I identify as a mixed individual as I am of Black and Puerto Rican descent. The way I stay involved in the mixed community is through my university’s Mixed Student Union, which I founded and serve as the president.

Graduating from university will probably be one of the most exciting periods in a young professional’s life but also one of the most daunting ones. After three to four years of studying, living with your closest friends and getting accustomed to a new life in a new city, the university bubble finally bursts. How is life after university? And what's the safest route to take after you graduate?

"As a soon to be graduate with the world in lockdown I was contemplating how to gain that initial industry experience."

Hello! I’m Tegan, a final year Pharmaceutical Science student at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. I recently completed an internship remotely with Absolute Internship. I intended on travelling and working within Barcelona itself, however, with this no longer possible I began researching other ways to experience the work life balance in an entirely different city.

The majority of students that start their careers right after graduating from university have undertaken at least one internship in their relevant field. We have interviewed three Absolute Internship alumni to find out about their journeys from undertaking their first internship with AI to graduating from university and securing their first full-time job. We are hoping that their success stories inspire you to embark on an internship program or consider only an internship placement in your field of interest!

Absolute Internship Ambassadors

The Absolute Ambassador community is created by Alumni who have evolved and grown personally and professionally during their experiences abroad. Ambassadors are experts on their summer programs and they are the best individuals to give future participants guidance, tips and ideas of what they need to know before embarking on this experience.

Globalization has influenced the work environment around the world. Nowadays, employers are specifically asking for international experience from their prospective employees. While most students already partook in a semester abroad, it is not enough anymore as many employers are seeking for hands on work skills. At Absolute Internship, we believe that combining real work coupled with some fun bits will generate the best outcome.

We've all heard the clichés about traveling and going abroad. Saint Augustine is attributed with the quote that said it best: "The world is a book and those who do not travel only read the first page". While 20ish centuries have passed since the philosopher may or may not have said this, the idea still stands. Only now, we have the means to explore the farthest points of the earth, immersing ourselves in local culture and building a resume while we are at it. If only St. Augustine knew about Absolute Internship back then.

The Barcelona Program has been a dream come true to say the least.

From the culture, food, language and customs I have learned so much over this past month. Not to mention, I’ve gotten a chance to brush up on my Spanish. On my way from the airport my first day, I couldn’t believe that this would be my home for the next month. I had pinch myself a few times to make sure it was real (but to this day it still feels like a dream). Day three in the Barcelona Program we went on a city tour of Catalunya specifically Las Ramblas and once again I was in awe. The architecture of various places in Barcelona is stunning to say the least. Not only that but the historical elements of this city are truly fascinating. From that day, I knew that I could see myself living in Barcelona in the future.
