As part of the program, you will be staying at a service apart-hotel on Hong Kong Island. You will be in a shared room with one other participant from the program with private bathroom and toilet. You will live together with the rest of our group of participants. The intern housing provides common facilities such as laundry, gym and cafeteria. There is also an outdoor terrace that provides relaxing outdoor spaces to study, work and socialize. Conveniently located on Hong Kong Island, the intern housing is only approximately 10 minutes walk from the nearest MTR (Mass Transit Railway).

The Mass Transit Railway is the name for Hong Kong’s rail system including underground, overland and light rail (slower tram-style) services. Generally known as the ‘MTR’ in Hong Kong, it’s clean, fast and safe. The MTR is the quickest way to get around Hong Kong.
You will receive an Octopus Card upon arrival with a monthly stipend. This electronic, stored-value card provides the most convenient way to travel and commute in the city. It can be used on the MTR, public buses and the tramway. The Octopus card can also be used to make food and convenience purchases at designated stores such as 7-Eleven, Starbucks, supermarkets, vending machines and many other shops in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is a fast-paced dynamic city, and we’ll be with you every step of the way as you explore it. Our International Internship Program Program in Hong Kong is run by a dedicated and knowledgeable team of Absolute staff. We have years of experience welcoming international students to Hong Kong and ensuring the safety of our students abroad.
The security department is on call 24 hours a day and 24-7 front desk security is available for you at your housing. Each participant must present his or her Residence ID card in order to enter the residence and access the facilities. Visitors are also required to sign in at the front desk and leave their ID card.
All cultural excursions and weekend activities in Hong Kong have been coordinated with student safety as our top priority. Upon arrival, you’ll have an orientation to familiarize yourself with the housing facilities, neighborhood and public transport. You’ll also be provided with key contact information along with guidance on health-, emergency procedures and staying safe throughout your summer in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Internship Program provides exciting weekend events in order for you to make the most out of your time living in China. Although you will be working during the day, these events aim to give you full advantage of what the city has to offer. Even though your internship is the most important, it’s essential that you take advantage of living abroad.
Let’s get to know your new city – Hong Kong, by passing by the amazing landmarks that this city has to offer! Hong Kong is definitely one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world so make sure to bring your camera, as we’ll introduce you this former British colony. This is truly a great opportunity to check out the fantastic must-sees and spend some time with the other Absolute students!
We’ll spend one night enjoying the Las Vegas of the East, but also called Macau. Macau is a former Portuguese colony 60 km west of Hong Kong with roots in the Chinese and Portuguese cultures. We’ll travel by ferry to Macau from Hong Kong and you’ll see the ancient Ruins of St. Paul Church, get a view of all the amazing casinos and more before we return to Hong Kong.
You’ll visit the Victoria Peak for great views of the city, harbor and neighboring islands. The number one must-do in Hong Kong according to Time Magazine. If a single image could summarize Hong Kong, it would be the panorama from Victoria Peak. Looking down at the city from this famous spot, you’ll see one of the finest harbors on Earth and a skyline so terrific that Manhattan would look provincial in comparison. Words can’t describe the amazing view you’ll have.
Take a full-day trip to the largest and most popular island of Hong Kong, a day you don’t want to miss out on as we will visit the “Buddhist Kingdom in the South.” Lantau is a land of beautiful mountainous peaks, beaches, and world renown Hong Kong Disneyland. You’ll see the world’s tallest outdoor bronze Buddha built in 1924 by climbing nearly 268 steps to get a close look. The Buddha is 75 feet tall (35 meters) and weighs more than 200 tons. You’ll enjoy a classic Cantonese lunch and visit traditional temples. To conclude the day we will take an exciting 25-minute, 360-degree cable car ride from Ngong Ping back to Hong Kong. A ride that offers panoramic views of the South China Sea and the beautiful mountains on the island.
We want to help you build friendships and get acquainted with your new city. To help you, our Absolute staff will be planning unsponsored events for the entire group every week. These events are voluntary, but we recommend that you attend these as they will make sure that you will get to know your new city as well the host country.
The Career Speaker Series by Absolute Internship takes place in the evenings after work. CEOs, Executives and industry professionals from top firms share their success stories, how they made it and outline the fundamental aspects of preparing for life after the university. You’ll have the chance to listen to how they made a mark in life, and how you can do the same.
The purpose of the series is to inspire you to think about what career you wish to pursue and help you realize that you can accomplish whatever dream you have.
The Speaker Series is an exceptionally valuable aspect of the internship program, as it allows you to gain insight from top influential business people. Moreover, you will spend time building your professional global network, as you will have time to talk with each at the end of their speech and ask any questions that you may have.
In addition to the series, we regularly inform our participants about relevant networking events in the city as we have strong collaborations with some of the largest and most important Chamber of Commerce and specific industry organizations that hold events every month.
Absolute multilingual on-site staff is available 24/7 and is dedicated to delivering a top-quality experience for you to make sure that your stay abroad is as safe as possible.
Staff members will act as program guides, leading you to all the program events and excursions. Our staff will also follow up with you ongoing making sure that you are having a productive time abroad both socially and professionally.
Once you arrive in your host city abroad, we will be picking you up at the airport together with all the other interns and accompany you to the intern housing. We will be providing you with an inclusive Welcome Pack containing a local SIM Card, subway map, transportation card and much more. The same evening we will be treating you for a Welcome Dinner with drinks where you will have the opportunity to meet the other interns and the program staff.
In addition to the Welcome Pack, you will be provided with an Absolute Emergency Card including details of the nearest hospital, police and other important information in the event that something unexpected would happen.
When joining the Hong Kong program, if you do not own a Hong Kong ID Card with the right of abode in Hong Kong, you must obtain a Hong Kong Training Visa allowing you to undertake an internship in Hong Kong for a limited period of time. This visa will allow you to exit and re enter Hong Kong as often as you want during the determined period of time matching the visa length.
Doing an internship in Hong Kong without a Hong Kong ID Card or a Hong Kong Training Visa is illegal and is punished with a high fine and / or potential imprisonment.
Upon enrollment into the program you will receive a list of documents needed for us to process your visa. As the visa process may take up to 7 weeks we will ask you to be very cooperative with us and provide us with the documents needed on time.
Absolute Internship will process your visa and the visa fee. Upon receipt of your visa we will mail it to you with clear instructions on how to use it.
Program inclusions may vary for Spring, Winter, and Fall programs.
For university cohort programs, inclusions may differ based on the agreement between Absolute Internship and your university. Please refer to your acceptance letter or contact your university for details.

No. English is the only language requirement for an Absolute Internship.
We work with both small and large companies with established internship programs. Unfortunately, we can’t provide a list of companies that we work with due to confidentiality reasons.
You will reside in high quality student housing, centrally located in the heart of the city. Transport connections are just a short walk away. Living and socialising alongside other students from all over the world will be a fun and memorable part of your summer experience with Absolute Internship.
You will need to purchase your own flights and international insurance. Additionally, you will be required to cover any food, drinks and personal shopping expenses accrued throughout the summer.

Work-based learning is regarded as an educational opportunity, and more often than not visa specifications require that international internships be unpaid.
Nevertheless, in rare cases, interns can and do receive renumeration.
Our placement team will not make this a priority when searching for your internship and we therefore recommend that you assume your internship will be unpaid.
Flights are not included in the price but we can help suggest flights for you in advance.
We will help organise group lessons for participants who want to learn Chinese. This is not included in the price. Please speak to the Absolute Internship team before arrival in order to arrange your language lessons.
