28 Aug My experience as Program Coordinator in Madrid, Spain – Lucia Solorzano
Born in Costa Rica, but 99% Nicaraguan, I am a twenty-seven years old girl that came to Madrid nine months ago to study a Master Degree in Marketing and Commercial Management at a business school. There was always something inside my head that insisted that I had to go and study abroad, I don’t know if I would call it “a dream”, but it was more of a goal. My two siblings have studied and worked in other countries, I have seen how much they have enjoyed the experience and how they have grown both in their personal and professional lives.
But… why Madrid? I chose this amazing city because it felt like the right place to me. Firstly, I had never been to Europe so this seemed like a great opportunity to me, and I also wanted to study in my native language. Madrid is a big city and I have only lived in small cities until now. Madrid instantly felt like home – a home away from home. The independence I gained and the many beautiful places to visit makes me fall in love with Madrid up to day, except from those really hot days. Believe me, it can get really hot!
When I first heard about an opportunity to work with Absolute Internship, I thought it was a great idea for me to help others coming from different parts of the world and share with them my experience of living in Madrid, but also it would make my professional career kick-start.
“Back in the days when I was in college, internships weren’t considered as important in your resume as nowadays. It is great that now students have opportunities like the Absolute Program to come and work internationally.”
Lucia Solorzano – Madrid Program 2019
My first weeks as a Program Coordinator have been incredible. I met so many young and enthusiastic students that I’m sure are trying their best to build a better future for all of us. I also have learned so much from them, as all of them have different backgrounds and goals in life and want to make a change in the world.
Hopefully, they will never forget the Absolute Tribe experience, all the people they met, the places they went to and the problems they faced. I really hope that I was a great support to them and a guide for them during this process. I’m also grateful for Nacho, our Local Program Coordinator for being an incredible work colleague and being so helpful in such amazing city.
To the Absolute Tribe of summer 2019, I wish you the most successful future anywhere around the globe, and to those students considering an internship abroad, don’t think it twice – now it’s the time to tick this experience off your list! Learn more about the Madrid Program for summer 2020:
