One of the things I like most about Hong Kong is the breathtaking views you can enjoy from any of the rooftop bars , or the variety of things you can do during the weekend if you’re willing to leave the house and endure the heat (in the summer).
As one of our career speakers said , Hong Kong has something that reminds you of New York, but also because of the climate and topography, when you go up to one of the terraces you can see impressive views. As my friend Kristijian (Croatian) said, who did a two-month internship in Shanghai, no matter how high you go up to the tallest building in the city, all you see are more and more buildings, there’s nothing else and of course no greenery or nature (I can attest to this since I was able to experience it in person when I went to Shanghai).
To name a place we’ve discovered, and I’d say one of the terraces we liked the most, is Elle Bar , located in Kowloon at the TST MTR stop. The good thing about this place during the week is that if you go between 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM, drinks are half price, and for one drink, you can help yourself to all the food you want from a table with something similar to skewers, so you can take advantage of it and go home with dinner. Plus, from their terrace at 8:00 PM, you can see the light show, which is very famous in Hong Kong. Finally, this place is relatively convenient for all of us because it takes us 10-15 minutes to get there from our respective jobs, and it’s quite close to getting back home, so if you’re coming to Hong Kong, I recommend you go. For dinner,
although it may seem unbelievable, we usually go to the less touristy Chinese restaurants, but in the end, we discovered that they serve quite delicious typical Chinese food at a pretty cheap price, I’d say. Although some of our friends look at us as if we were crazy, I have to say that nothing has happened to any of us and that I like the food, but don’t imagine a restaurant with 2 Michelin stars or anything like that, but that doesn’t mean we end up going at least 3 times a week.
Finally, to mention a place that I think is worth visiting if you come to Hong Kong, it’s Victoria Peak, which is one of the highest points on Hong Kong Island, from where you can see the entire financial district and the Kowloon area in the background. I would recommend taking the tram to go up, which is an experience in itself (despite being more expensive than the bus), since you’ll probably only go up once in your life and the price isn’t that great either. Finally, I would mention that if you come to Hong Kong, you have to go to the following places to at least see what it’s like to go out in Hong Kong: on Wednesday, you have to go to Wan Chai because drinks are free for girls, so everyone is there. On Thursday, you have to try the pub crawl (you can search for it on Facebook), and on Saturday, go to the LKF area, where there are many bars and a great atmosphere, located in central Hong Kong.
