20 Dec Bring on Shanghai!
My name is Jordan Osrin and I am a second year commerce student at the University Of Western Australia in Perth, Australia. I am majoring in Finance and Business Law and I will be heading to Shanghai on a Finance Scholarship this summer.
I have been lucky enough to receive an internship in Shanghai through Absolute Internship and I truly expect it to be a once in a lifetime experience. I have great expectations of Shanghai as both a city and business centre for the Eastern World.
Coming from a country with a population of around 22.7 million and traveling to a city with around 23.9 million is daunting in and of itself. Between the sheer amount of people and significant culture differences, I expect to be both overwhelmed and amazed. However, I believe my studies in Chinese and Mandarin will help me with the transition.
As a finance student, I am extremely excited to participate in a finance internship in the hub of financial activity for China, and the majority of Asia. As Shanghai is one of the fastest growing cities in the world, I expect that the internship and the city will continue to provide challenges over the month. Whether its learning how finance works in the real world or simply trying to order dinner, I am excited by these challenges and cannot wait to tackle each and every one of them.
Traveling has always been one of my greatest passions. The ability to incorporate travelling and an internship in a city like Shanghai immediately drew me towards the Absolute Internship program. I expect for the program to be one of the best months of my life, as I work and travel and meet new people from all over the world. I am exited to share this experience with likeminded people and make new friends from all over the world. I am also hoping to create and establish connections in the workplace.
I am heading to Shanghai with the additional expectation to “expect the unexpected”. I anticipate that whatever I plan for and assume, the program and city itself will continue to offer more and more incredible opportunities. It is on this expectation that I vow to experience as much of Shanghai as possible. With only a month in Shanghai and a full time internship, I am going to try to experience everything and never miss an opportunity. This may be a once in a lifetime opportunity that I think will provide an invaluable stepping stone to bigger and better things. I also think that Absolute Internship has provided me with an opportunity to distinguish myself from other finance and commerce students. It is this opportunity that I cannot wait for.
Bring on Shanghai!
