Aparte de trabajar, también me pinto las uñas!

Shanghai Afternoon
Well, the truth is, I was very nervous… I didn’t know what to expect. The first day, we met in the hotel lobby and were divided into three groups. Each coordinator would personally drop us off at work. I felt like I was on the school bus, and it was my first day at a new school. I was almost one of the last people dropped off; luckily, one of my roommates works with me. So, deep down, I felt a little more secure. On the first day, I brought my boss a gift from Colombia; that’s very typical in Chinese culture; those details are very important. The office where I work is located in a four-story building with advertising, design, and other offices! What I like most is that it’s a fairly modern building right next to the typical Chinatown neighborhood! I have the advantage of having everything you can imagine just steps away from the office.

My internship is in Public Relations (PR), working for a beauty company that sells nail products. Interestingly, despite being a startup, the results are very visible. The results of what I do are evident, and I like that because I see the fruits of my labor. There are three nail products, and I’m in charge of one brand in particular, called Shine and Sheen. When I say I’m in charge, I mean that I manage most of the social media and create content (photos, videos, blogs) for the brand. Aside from that, I also have to research future buyers and potential new markets in other countries, such as Colombia.

PR InternshipI’ve learned about the importance of good content on social media, from Facebook to Twitter. A simple comment can generate sales and increase audiences. Another thing I’ve liked is that my boss actually gives me the freedom and trust to do things. I don’t have to ask her about every single thing I’m thinking of writing, and so far she’s been happy with what I’ve done.

The most fun part of my internship is getting to use all the nail polishes and products they have. Shine and Sheen focuses on nail design, which I love! I’m happy painting my nails and creating new designs! To be able to talk about a product, you have to know it inside out, and that’s what nail art means to me! I’ve done quite a few tutorials that are on our YouTube channel or in Instagram photos! When I watch them, I feel proud to see my creativity in social media content. The feeling is incredible, and I know it will serve as a reference for other jobs in the future!
