01 Oct A Day in the Life of an Australian Intern in London
I wanted to share with you all also what a typical day in London goes for an intern in London. A little like this, everyday I’m waking up eating breakfast with my roommate and enjoying the beautiful sunshine along with the heat. Lately it has been 28-33 degrees every day so the mornings are the best time of day to enjoy the sunshine but not the heat!
After breakfast it’s a short stroll to the tube to get amongst the “hustle and bustle” of the London underground where sometimes its just nice to walk a bit slower than everyone else and really take in that there is nowhere on the planet quite like the tube on a Monday morning.
Monday’s at my London internship are the busiest with daily reports, weekend reports, monthly reports, screening potential websites for the company to recommend, uploading exclusive offers and monitoring live campaigns.
Asides from the daily reports, competitor analysis and audits I have also been creating and implementing a networking event for one of the top grocery clients in the UK. Tradedoubler acknowledges my previous experience in event management and have allowed me to create, plan and implement a networking social event for the client and the top marketing affiliates in the industry here in London. The event has allowed me to gain experience in the event management industry abroad and also create an exciting event to represent Tradedoubler and Myself.
After work its home time with so many things to see and do such as gym, socializing, cooking dinner with the rest of the Absolute London Interns and of course talking about how our day went and helping each other through any troubles and of course the celebrations!
As an Australian, living in London is a little different. An effective public transport system makes all the difference and also makes life a lot easier to get around and see different places. There is always so much to see and do here in London whether it be shopping at Oxford Circus, drinking in Soho or going to a musical in Victoria, there’s never a night where something isn’t on!
Some of the wonderful events that the Absolute group have been involved in have been day trips to Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens, Portabello Markets, Harrods, bike rides, Absolute family dinners, Camden markets, Beatboxing challenges in Shoredich, Brighton beach and exploring the amazing nightlife of London.
