Overview


Our International Immersion Program offers students a unique opportunity to gain real-world industry experience and cultural exposure abroad, all while applying classroom knowledge in practical settings. Designed as a fully supported, experiential learning program, it provides students with hands-on engagement with local businesses, organizations, and communities, without the involvement of university faculty or formal internships.

This program is only available for students from UK schools with Turing Funding Eligibility.

Locations:

Inside Korea’s K-POP and Fashion Revolution

Students will gain first hand exposure to South Korea’s global influence in K-POP and fashion—two of the country’s most dynamic and trendsetting industries. Through exclusive visits to entertainment companies, fashion labels, and creative studios in Seoul, participants will explore how Korean pop culture and design are shaping global consumer trends and redefining contemporary youth identity.

Beyond the professional focus, students will dive into Korean culture through a range of immersive experiences. Highlights include exploring the vibrant districts of Hongdae and Gangnam, and learning about traditional Korean attire with a hanbok experience at a historic palace. 

This program offers a powerful combination of cultural exploration and industry insight, equipping students with a nuanced understanding of Korea’s creative economy while cultivating a deep appreciation for its rich heritage and cutting-edge innovation.

With a strong emphasis on sustainability, digital transformation, and global connectivity, participants will engage with leading startups, multinational companies, and innovation hubs to explore how businesses are evolving in today’s fast-paced economy.

Cultural immersion is woven into the program, offering a holistic experience beyond the boardroom. Highlights include guided tours of iconic architecture, tapas tastings in historic neighborhoods, and excursions to surrounding regions that blend tradition with modern lifestyle. Weekly cultural activities—from Spanish language basics to market visits—deepen students’ connection to the country’s vibrant identity.

Learning Outcomes: 

Cultural Competency: Students will deepen their understanding of the local culture, history, and norms by interacting with local communities and cultural activities. Volunteering with local organizations will allow students to engage with global social issues and develop cross-cultural collaboration skills.

Industry Understanding: Students will gain insights about trends and challenges in the industries they explore by engaging with leading companies, startups, and industry experts.

Practical Skills: Group work, team-building activities, and real-world interactions will help students improve communication, teamwork, and adaptability.

Personal & Professional Growth: Students will set personal goals for the program and reflect on their development through self-assessments and regular reflections.

Deliverables: 

Mandatory Reflection Journal Students will evaluate their progress through an e-journal with prompts focused on culture, industry insights, practical skills, and volunteering experiences. Their depth of reflection will be compared to their pre-program assessments.

Pre- and Post-Trip Self-Assessment Students will complete self-assessments at the beginning and end of the program to track their growth in cultural understanding, industry knowledge, and professional skills.

Certificate of completion Students will receive a certificate of completion for their involvement.
