02 Dec Pre Travel Blog – Internship in Hong Kong
The prospect of being able to live and work abroad really excites me because I like to push myself outside of my comfort zone. I’ve been accepted to complete a two-month business development internship in Hong Kong this winter and I am beyond excited! This will be my first real time exposure to the industry I wish to build my career in and what better setting then completing it in the world’s largest economy!
My name is Tayler and in April of 2014 I completed my undergraduate study in commerce double majoring in accounting and business management. I absolutely loved my time at Bond University (Gold Coast, Australia) and the whole university experience in itself was far better than I could have ever expected. Since graduating I’ve decided to under take further studies in the form of a masters degree in financial analysis at UNSW beginning in 2015. In the mean time I’ve been doing some solo travelling around Europe, North Africa and Asia!
Having spent 15 days during my trip to Hong Kong I already know that I love the city and this is partly why I applied for an internship there. It is a 5 star city and one of my favourites in the world. I’m extremely excited to emerge myself in the corporate side of Hong Kong and experience the hustle and bustle of a world-class business district.
To be frank, I don’t really know what to expect with my business development internship other than the brief outline of general duties detailed on the website. I’m 100% ready to throw myself into the deep end and gain some invaluable experiences while doing so. I will make mistakes and I will learn from them. Equipped with a positive attitude and the persistence to succeed I will try to get as much out of my short two month period as possible.
To me this is more than just an internship that I will add to my CV. I am looking to gain knowledge, lessons, and friendships that will stay with me for the rest of my life. The final countdown has begun, 26 days until Christmas, more importantly 26 days until interning in Hong Kong!!!!!! (I know which I’m more excited about!)
