Intern in Singapore: So much to do!

Intern in Singapore: So much to do!

Even though Singapore is such a small city, even smaller than my hometown -Hong Kong, there is still surprisingly loads to do ! As there is work Monday to Friday, we really had to make use of the nights as well as the weekends to walk around and explore this beautiful city- Food, shopping, architecture, there is everything!

>> Architecture and the NIGHT LIFE!

If you are in Singapore, it is an essential to try out the nightlife here. Not only are there many rooftop bars/ lounges, which views the amazing night skyline of Singapore, it can also be quite a chilled environment to have a few snacks and drinks with friends and colleagues ! Singapore parties are mostly known for the awesome DJs! Even though we have only been here for a month and haven’t tried as much as we could, it was still a worthwhile experience to see what the nightlife would be like here.

From there, one can see the Singapore flyer, as well as Marina Bay Sands!

>> FOOD, food, food and more food!

One of the best things I love about Singapore is the amount of food they have here. Even right around the corner of where my office is located, there are either local hawkers and commercial buildings with food courts nearby. If you are daring enough to try all sorts of food, Singapore is the place for you. Food courts are HUGE, with all different kinds of cuisines! From the local char kway teow, hainan chicken rice, to indian patti samosa, japanese sushi, korean bbq etc. Everything just seems to appear of no where and next second you feel like you’re in another country having a try at their local food. Even at the local markets, one of the famous ones I went to was for the celebration of the Ramadan Festival, there were all ranges of food and people line up hours just for it – Fried macaroni and cheese, fried oreos, fried durian, and colourful sugar coated churros ! (And yes, my friend and I tried all of it and it was soo satisfying!!)

>> Shopping!

As for shopping, there are awesome malls everywhere with chain stores or retail outlets- Whether you are a guy or a girl, there is always a place for you to shop! H&M, Bershka, Pull&Bear, literally all brands you can basically think of ! Luckily the Absolute Accommodation location is very close to Orchard Road, which is where all the good shopping is all along the road ! If you were to look into more local shops and cute stores, I would suggest Haji Lane- There are little hipster shops that some people might like, with DIY- leather wallets, watches and notebooks. Price ranges are reasonable and definitely worth it !

>> ABSOLUTE fun activities!

Bintan Island Weekend trip with the girls ! Ready for the adventurous Mangrove ride !

Some weekends or nights after work without Absolute activities would basically just be exploring around Singapore, eating a lot , doing some shopping and taking photos of everything like a basic tourist! Luckily to keep us entertained there are also activities such as making a quick weekend trip to Bintan Island with the Absolute crew ! Even though the weather wasn’t at its best, it was still quite a nice trip to be out of the working area and out of Singapore ! Other activities would include being on the Singapore flyer, taking a glance at the skyline of Singapore again, and also the fabulous Night light laser show at Marina Bay sands and getting to see Garden by the BAY !

Garden by the baaaay ! (So much nature ~)
