Celebrating International Women’s Day 2018

International Women’s Day is an annual global celebration. It honours the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It also calls for the acceleration of gender equality worldwide.

International Women’s Day has taken place for well over a century. It continues to inspire, educate, and activate people of all genders across the globe. Today we recognise the value that women bring to individual communities, as well as collectively to the world.

Absolute Internship Alumni Quote

In some countries today is a national holiday. Sisters, grandmothers, mothers, women and partners are given presents to mark the occasion!

We think that’s awesome.

Here at Absolute Internship our team consists of an incredible female majority. So in the spirit of the day, we’re celebrating them too! Here’s to Alex, Aurelie, Carolina, Eli, Eumari, Ines, Nina, Maggie, Magda, Maria C, Maria P, Mateja, Signe and Sabrina!

International Women's Day

Of course, International Women’s Day is about much more than simply praising the value of women. It is also a reminder of how much more needs to be done to create a future that is inclusive and equal for all members of society. Trends suggest it may still be another hundred years until the gender pay-gap closes completely, and with only 17% of individuals currently occupying political positions of power being female, the need for progress is clear.

With that in mind, we’re proud to be working towards a more fair and female future. We know our women interns go on to achieve incredible things, and we’re proud to be playing a part in pressing for progress!

So wherever you are, whatever your gender, take today (at the very least) to recognise, honour and celebrate the important and impressive achievements of women globally. After all, it weren’t for a woman, none of us would be here.
