14 Jul I Heart Beijing
Attending Beijing with the Absolute Internship group was by far one of the best trips I’ve ever been on in any setting. It was really well organize and I was able to capture a lot in a span of a weekend. We had a wonderful tour guide, teaching us about the local history, while we were visiting Beijing. We went to the following places: the Summer Palace, the Great Wall, and the Forbidden City. During this time we also had the opportunity to try local Chinese Dishes as well as some free time for sightseeing. By attending Beijing, it allowed me to interact more with other cultures as well as understand their Chinese’s culture better. In addition, I was exposed to places I never imagined myself attending since I come from a town of roughly 6,000 people.
While, at the Great Wall of China, I couldn’t help, but be in absolute shock. It was completely breathtaking to be standing there on the stone wall, looking outward to see the wall continuing for miles into the mountains. At the time, it was crazy to think I was visiting one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It truly is a must-see and Absolute Internship made that possible for us. I am now inspired to go visit more places among the Seven Wonders of the World and it really has allowed me to develop a passion in wanting to visit other countries.
As for the local Chinese dishes, for dinner we attended a restaurant that served duck. At first, I was a little scared to try it, but the duck was so delicious. Not only were we served the duck meat, but we were also served the duck’s skin, and various duck sauces to put on bread. It was definitely a very tasteful meal and it was really cool to be about to get in sync with the Chinese culture through the meal. In addition, it made me happy seeing that their restaurant was happy that we enjoyed their meal so much.
Overall, Beijing is a must-see city. I enjoyed visiting Beijing, while still living in Shanghai. Both cities are similar in the sense that they both have millions of people in residence, but both cities are completely different. I would say Beijing has more attractions, while Shanghai is more comfortable when it comes to living. Either way, both cities are quite beautiful and Absolute Internship always finds a way to amaze me with these cultural events.
Stay tune. – The Intern
